maybe the creators were fans of Rogue ? It has so many aspects that are like dcss or angband its uncanny ... : -procedurally generated dungeons - " reactive " turn based action ... i. e. game moves when you move - FoW and illumination ( Like in angband ) -auto movement ( runs until it hits an alert object or corridor ) like pressing " o " in dcss ( A feature sorely missed in angband ) Although its not a roguelike, it seems like it has a lot of aspects in common with some of the great " real " roguelikes. If I'd known this before, I wouldve played it. The story , etc , makes no sense, but it has really interesting mechanics.
