In which Possum recounts his experiences as an offender in the system.

Possum Bones is autistic. He has identified as a dirty kid in the past, and he’s attended multiple rainbow gatherings. He has several years left to serve in the Washington Correctional system.

He has been making art since he could sit up. He communicates better in writing than speech. Scared

Its taken me a long time to realize the reason some people act funny here : its because they're scared. These short timers don't have the experience to know nobody's ever getting seriously hurt here. Even if there ever is a fight its like, you know ? Its just a scrap. I never realize this is why people are acting all weird and tough until its too late because I'm so used to the environment here that I just instinctively don't consider the possibility that they're just scared because they're in prison. And its like this is also why people don't want to listen sometimes ... to simple advice ... because they feel its an admission of weakness or something ? Its confusing. Its unfathomable to me that anyone could ever feel threatened by me, so I never can tell .
