In which Possum recounts his experiences as an offender in the system.

Possum Bones is autistic. He has identified as a dirty kid in the past, and he’s attended multiple rainbow gatherings. He has several years left to serve in the Washington Correctional system.

He has been making art since he could sit up. He communicates better in writing than speech. The Mailroom

Its not only Cheeki that knows about the Stafford mailroom. The mailroom here SUCKS . Its actually renowned. I heard about it before I even came here. They:

- Damaged my publications and mail without taking responsibility as they are supposed to according to policy

-Straight up lost and never delivered my mail

-They only do grey photocopies when they're mad! I know of someone who got one from US Congress that had a post it note on it, and they photocopied it so he couldn't see what was originally under the post it note

-They go above and beyond to interpret policy in the way that will restrict inmates the most. In many cases they aren't even following the policy at all. My mail was rejected here, approved at HQ and then re-rejected here by the superintendent: I bet theres nothing in the policy that says they can do that. Its absurd.

- They do everything they possibly can to spite inmates and make our lives as miserable as is in their power. Its not in my head, I've been down long enough to see it for what it is.

- They force us to wait months or years before we can return our publication, after its been read by dozens of people ! If you think about it, what they did with " The atlas of foreshortening " is outright against their own policy. Its just too small of an issue for anything to be done about it. But overall, the mailroom here is absolutely horrible

- its safer and more peaceful at this prison, and safety is important , so I stay here. Basically, the implied threat of violence causes me to put up with their misconduct.
