Rachel Smythe
So , this should go without saying for an eisner winner , but I don't respect awards that much. The eisner award though, I will say , has a very strong history as far as I've seen. Anyway : Rachel Smythe is the real deal . She's got a unique flair that would have been nothing without practice - I don't respect the term talent either - but regardless, she's got "it". Probably, she ought to be given a position as an animation director drawing the story boards for a motion picture . She's got a unique aptitude at certain skills that many trained artist fail to develop to the level she did. Skills that are less commonly pronounced in an artist. I'm talking about color harmony, emotive figuration including facial expressions, and a strong aesthetic sense. Aesthetic sense is something I'm pretty sure is hard to develop intentionally . Maybe I'm an idiot . I could be wrong. But this is what I can tell from my limited scope.
