Prison Blog

In which Possum recounts his experiences as an offender in the system.

Possum Bones is autistic. He has identified as a dirty kid in the past, and he’s attended multiple rainbow gatherings. He has several years left to serve in the Washington Correctional system.

He has been making art since he could sit up. He communicates better in writing than speech. If you are interested in the experience of an autistic person doing prison time, check out his Prison Blog. If you are a fan of comic art, underground/outsider music, Lovecraft, Clarke Ashton Smith, Murakami, Cixui Liu, etc.

Obsession for the past

Not that Howard Philips lovecraft is a great role model ( Extremely racist ) , but he and I do share this throwback quality : he was a child of the 19th century but grew up mainly in the 20th. He despised the 20th century and had a nerdish obsession for the past. Anyway, I dont hate all the kids, but there's one thing I can't stand. People who eschew great works based on the fact that they're " old ". There's new stuff that I like , but there's also a lot of really retarded new trends in fiction. Like , really. Looking to the past , its easy to cherry pick what's good and ignore all the bad shit. But its really cringe when you have people who think " That Time I Got Reincarnated as [Insert reincarnation] " or what passes as "Prestige television" is the best thing ever, and when you present them with masterstrokes like Cowboy Bebop or TESIV:SI , or Videodrome, they prefer the derivative, easy to swallow crap and say its because they like new things and not old things, when the reality is they either just have bad taste or they want a media product that's " already been chewed " ... There are plenty of good new things. I don't have access to much of it because I'm in prison, but in the last decade we HAVE seen fresh meat The Three Body series, Made in Abyss* , Vinland Saga, some good nebula and Hugo award winning stories ... etc. But its so easy for me to pick out good shit from the past, probably because the past is a larger pool than the present still. Don't be one of those FUCKING GUYS .

*I'm acknowledging that there was some kind of unsavory material at times, but I think it was still a smash hit despite that.
